Preparing for your session

To get the most out of your breathwork experience, a little preparation can make a big difference. General Guidelines (In-Person & Online)

  • Avoid eating for at least two hours before your session. If that’s not possible, keep it light with a small meal or snack.

  • Stay hydrated, but not to the point of discomfort. You’ll have a chance to use the restroom before we begin.

  • Keep a glass or bottle of water nearby for after your session.

  • Wear comfortable clothing and remove any restrictive jewelry.

  • Ensure your phone is silenced, turned off, or set to Do Not Disturb (with alarms disabled, as some may override DND).

Online Sessions

  • Download, install, and sign up for the Free Zoom app ahead of time.

  • Set up a private, quiet, and distraction-free space. Let household members know your needs and keep pets in a separate area.

  • Create a comfortable spot to lie down—or sit, if session is less than 20 min. (floor, yoga mat/blanket, or bed) Have pillows/blankets available in case they become necessary.

  • An eye mask is optional but may enhance your experience.

  • Use headphones/earphones for the best sound experience— high quality recommended.

  • Position your laptop/computer (preferred) or phone securely, with the camera angled so your practitioner can see at least your upper body for proper observation.

  • Test your internet connection in advance to avoid interruptions or freezing during the session.

In-person Sessions

  • Bring a pillow and blanket for extra comfort. (optional)

  • If your session is not at Empower Yoga Studio, please bring your own mat. (Do let me know if you don't have access to one in advance and I will accommodate.)

Optional Practice
We encourage journaling before and after your breathwork session. Writing down your insights helps capture what comes through while it’s fresh in your mind and allows you to track your progress as you continue your breathwork journey at home or with a practitioner.
